Member Notice:

Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, all Active Sefton Leisure Centres temporarily closed on Friday 20thMarch 2020, including Dunes Leisure Centre, Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre, Bootle Leisure Centre, Litherland Sports Park, Netherton Activity Centre and Meadows Leisure Centre.  All activities including swimming lessons were also suspended until further notice, as well as all community based Active Sefton Programmes and sessions.  All direct debit payments were automatically suspended and will remain so until further notice.

We are fully aware of the incredible value our Leisure Centres and wider activities hold for the health and wellbeing of our communities.  However due to recent government guidance, these temporary arrangements are crucial to help in the next phase of the government’s plan to tackle the outbreak.

It is still very important to remain as active as possible during this time.  We will continue to provide our online workouts, helpful hints, tips and guidance for residents via all our social media channels and recommend that residents remain active at a social distance utilising the outdoors where possible.  These can be found on this site and on the Activate Fitness and Active Sefton Facebook pages

The safety and wellbeing of our members and staff is our utmost priority and we’re continuing to follow official guidance from the Government and Public Health England.  We apologise for any inconvenience and we thank you for your understanding at this time.

While we’re all dealing with the effects of Coronavirus (COVID-19), we wanted to take this opportunity to update you on the measures we are taking to help keep our members and staff safe across all our Active Sefton Leisure centres. We want you to feel comfortable and supported on your return.  To do so any plans for reopening will be following the operational framework published by leading industry experts, UK Active, designed for use by gyms, leisure centres and the wider UK fitness industry, alongside Government and Public Health recommendations.

As part of these proposed measures and to ensure the Leisure Centres are ready for your return, we have listed some actions that we are currently taking to show what you will expect on your visit:

  • Since closure there has been deep cleaning throughout all 6 Active Sefton Leisure Centres.

  • Measures have been put in place to ensure social distancing throughout, including the spacing out of gym equipment and changing facilities.

  • Hand sanitisers are being placed around the centres for all members and staff to use.

  • Implementation of additional scheduled cleaning once opened, with additional monitoring in the gym and changing facilities.

  • We have introduced directional floor markings and new signage to create a safe flow and encourage social distancing.

  • There will be protective screens at reception.

  • Where possible we will create separate entrances and exits to our centres, so that its easier to keep a safe distance from other users.

  • Using Card/Contactless payments only.

  • Additional measures will be put in place to ensure minimal congestion in the changing facilities.

  • There will be limited/no showers available for swimming and recommend that members shower at home. All hairdryers will be out of use.

  • Towels and sweat bands will not be allowed on the Gym floor and studios

  • All fitness changing areas will be closed.

  • A phased reopening will be introduced focusing on the opening of the Gym followed shortly with the reopening of the Pool then Classes.

  • A booking system will be in place for Gym, Swim and  Class usage.

  • Pay and display parking for Dunes Splash World and Bootle Leisure Centre will be FREE

Although we are currently unaware of any potential reopening date, please be assured that we are working hard behind the scenes to ensure that we are fully prepared.  Please take the time to revisit this page for any further updates.
