Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre is the ideal place to experience a wide variety of water-sports, including sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and jetski.
We offer people of all abilities the opportunity to join us and train towards a National Governing Body awards in Sailing, Windsurfing, Jetski and Paddling.


Getting young people out on the water...
Whether you're looking to keep them occupied during the school holidays or they want to be on the water regularly, we have a range of sessions dedicated to young people.
Each school holiday there are a range of exciting activities where they can take part in a specific sport or mix and match with our Adventure Days. All our sessions are Monday to Friday for 8-16 years old.
If they love it, we have weekly clubs and sessions to help them improve and, if they want, compete out on the water.

Come along and try our selection of activities suitable for all the family including Miniport boats, rowing boats, sit on top kayaks, open canoes and stand up paddleboards.
Miniports are suitable for all ages, other activities for children over 8 years old, supervised by an adult (rowing boats subject to safety equipment fitting correctly).

Try open water swimming at Crosby Lakeside...
Open Water Swimming is back at Crosby Lakeside. A truly different experience to the pool, without the confines of lane ropes or walls, it’s liberating, adventurous and unique.
We have sessions available on Monday & Wednesday evenings (6:00pm - 8.00pm), along with our Saturday morning session (10:00am - 12:00 noon).

Looking for a new challenge? Check out our exciting new range of online courses including VHF, Safe and Fun and Essential Navigation. Courses can be completed in the comfort of your own home, all backed by the support of our qualified team of instructors.
A number of improver courses are also available to develop your sailing skills out on the water.

How do we know the water is clean? There's a test for that...
Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre is an open water venue and that means it's open to the elements and we're subject to environmental changes around us.
We are very serious about the quality of our water and making sure it is safe for you to enter. We test it weekly and, in any case of suspected contamination, immediately. If it falls below the highest standards, we close the facility until it is rectified.
We test to the same standards as the Environmental Agency. More information on these standards can be found here.

RYA Start Windsurfing Course
£175 + booking fee
This two day RYA Accredited Start Windsurfing course is the ideal introduction to the exciting world of windsurfing. Utilising modern boards and rigs learning the basics of this sport couldn't be easier, all tuition will be overseen by our dedicated team of fully qualified instructor who will have you blasting across the water in no time.


RYA Start Sailing Weekend
£175 + booking fee
Whether you want to escape daily stresses or seek the adrenalin rush of racing, nothing compares to being in control of your own boat.
Each two day course is delivered by fully qualified instructors who all have the experience to give you the best possible support whilst learning to sail.
The centre has fleets of both single-handed and crewed dinghies. The course sets out the foundations of sailing, rigging, launching, capsize recovery, and the essential safety knowledge. This will culminate with you taking to the waves on your own.

Learn to Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP)
£75 + booking fee
Stand-up paddle-boarding is a great complete body workout and one of the most popular on water sports around. This fantastic one day course will teach you how to paddle the board and make the most of your time on the water. During the course of the day you will be taught how to stand, hold your paddle, a variety of paddle strokes and how to turn the board. This one day course is a fantastic accompaniment to the SUP Fitness courses.
4 Week SUP Fitness Course
£60 + booking fee
This low impact exercise class it is a combination of balance, strength, and endurance on the open water.
These bookings are for four sessions Wednesday sessions participants.


Adult Learn to Kayak Course
£75 + booking fee
More and more people are grabbing a boat and taking to the water to enjoy the rivers, lakes and coasts of the UK. If you want to either improve on a skill or simply have a go, the centre offers you the opportunity you won’t find at many other facilities.
The first step in this journey is a flat water award that demonstrates an individual has the basic boat control and foundation skills. This 2 day course can be taken in any kind of paddle-sport craft.

Adult Learn to Fence Course
£60 + booking fee
The traditional sport of fencing is great for those looking for a completely different workout. Utilising speed and footwork fencing is the ideal way to shape and tone whilst learning a new sport.
Using Modern equipment in a safe and controlled environment you can engage in this fascinating and exhilarating pastime. Our instructor will guide you through the basics of footwork and blade work culminating in a friendly duel with your opponent.

Adult 2 Day Improver Sailing Course
£175 + booking fee
This 2 Day Adult Improver course follows the RYA Sylabus and is intended for people who have undertaken a beginners sailing course. Over the weekend our highly qualified experienced instructors will work through a variety of practical tasks to improve your sailing and develop your skills.


RYA Powerboat Level 2 - 2 Day Course
£195 + booking fee
This two day course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat and is the basis of the international certificate of competence. It includes close quarters handling, high speed manoeuvres, man overboard recovery and collision regulations.
Each course is delivered by fully qualified instructors and will give you an excellent start in this exciting sport.


RYA Short Range Certificate
£95 + booking fee
A VHF radio could be one of the most important pieces of safety equipment on board a boat whether its a yacht , dinghy, powerboat or jetski. The course covers all areas of VHF use and procedures. It incorporates both the SRC course and the examination this will allow the operator to legally use a fixed or handheld VHF on any British Flagged Vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio.

The same content as above but delivered via an e-learning module.


RYA Day Skipper Theory - 5 days
£340 + booking fee
The RYA Day Skipper Theory course provides a comprehensive introduction to chartwork, navigation, tides , meteorology and the basics of seamanship. The course is available either as 5 days or over 3 weekends.
This course is great to complement one of our Yacht Cruising Adventures.


RYA Professional Practises and
Responsibilities - Online e-learning course
£35 + booking fee
Each year approximately 4,500 people apply to the RYA for a commercial endorsement in order to use their RYA qualifications professionally as skipper or crew. You could be doing anything from delivering a new 35’ yacht or driving a workboat with lifting and towing gear, to running a superyacht in the Med. Whatever your job is on board, in the commercial world you are a professional seafarer.

Yacht Cruising Experience - 3 days
£275 + booking fee
Leaving from the centre on Friday and returning on the Tuesday, participants will be transported to Largs on the Scottish West Coast where we will meet a Sun Odyssey 379 for 3 full days sailing around the Clyde.
Inclusive of all yacht costs, food and transport the only additional extra is Marina fees which will be split between all participants. Suitable for both beginners and people wishing to refresh or build miles this is an ideal taste of yacht cruising all undertaken by fully qualified skippers/ instructors.


RYA Competent Crew / Day Skipper
5 Day Practical Course

RYA Competent Crew Course
The RYA Competent Crew course is the starting point for your sail training. The course is perfect for those who have completed the our Introduction to Yachting course (Start Yachting), have done dinghy sailing, or are complete beginners.
RYA Day Skipper Course
The RYA Day Skipper course is designed to teach you how to take charge of your yacht and your crew. The course will give you the skills and confidence needed to skipper on your maiden voyage. In addition it will allow you to obtain your International Certificate of Competence so that you can charter in warmer climates!
Both of these courses are run in conjunction with GoWest Sailing
Youth activities for beginners and improvers

Youth Holiday Adventure Days
£35 + booking fee
Try out taster sessions of our most exciting activities during these days you will get to experience a range of new and exhilarating activities with sports which could include, for ages 8 years and older: Sailing, Archery, Climbing, Windsurfing, Bellboating, Kayaking, Stand-Up Paddle Boarding, Problem Solving, Orienteering, Canoeing, Raft Building, Soft Fencing.
These days happen Monday to Friday during the school holidays.

Half Term Youth Beginner Sailing Camp
£150 + booking fee
Each school holiday kids can take part in a range of exciting activities; they can take part in a specific sport or mix and match with our Adventure Days which provide kids with the chance to enjoy a range of activities. All our sessions are for kids 8-16 years old. Starts at 9:15 until 16:00 Monday to Friday.
Following the Royal Yachting Association Youth Sailing Scheme, these week long courses allow kids to be introduced into sailing and if successful will receive a nationally recognised certificate upon completion allowing you to come down and take our boats whenever the fancy takes you.

Team 15 Youth & Improver Windsurfing Race Club
£75 + booking fee (4 week block)
This is a club for young people aged 8 -15 who want to learn to windsurf and race. Using some of the latest kit subsidised by Sport England and the RYA this is a fantastic opportunity for young people to get involved in a club and learn to windsurf and maybe race.
Our highly dedicated and experienced instructors will lead you through the basics all way through getting on the start line.
Each block will consist of 4 weeks with the aim of getting young people racing by the last session.
