If you’re aged between 40 and 74, you may be eligible for a FREE NHS Health Check that can help you live a longer and healthier life.
The NHS Health Check programme aims to prevent heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease. If you don’t already have one of these conditions, you can have a NHS health check once every five years.
What happens in an
NHS Health Check?
To ensure we are COVID secure we have adapted our usual way of delivering Health Checks. Your Health Check will continue to offer the full service but will now be delivered in two parts:
-
Part 1 is a telephone consultation where you will be asked some simple questions about your general health and wellbeing, lifestyle and any medications you’re taking. Your age, sex and ethnicity will also be recorded. You will then be given an appointment to attend a physical assessment, which should take no longer than 20 minutes.
-
Part 2. At your physical assessment appointment your height, weight, blood pressure and cholesterol will be taken.
-
If eligible a simple blood test will be done to check your blood sugar levels.
-
You’ll be given personalised advice on how to lower your risk and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
